Ten Things You Probably Didn't NEED To KNOW
but now you won't be able to help bringing up in conversation:
1. I am an LA Native. As in born and raised. In LA Proper.
2. So far, I have worked on 4 continents, in 14 countries and in too many cities to count (Thanks High School Musical!!!)!
3. I acted as a kid and was one out of 500 young artists named a California Arts Scholar and given a full scholarship to study acting at California State Summer School for the Arts at CalArts in 2003. Came back in 2004 for dance, cause it was exactly like the movie "CAMP" and the best thing that had ever happened to 15 year old, musical obsessed, afro wearing before my time me.
4. I have an extensive dance background, having studied dance training at the Debbie Allen Studio, the E.D.G.E. Performing Arts Center, Lula Washington Dance Theater, and Ryan Heffingtons Studio. I've even done a few commercials for Gap, Burger King, Adidas, and Target as well as background dancing for recording artist Deitrick Haddon.
5. Once, when I was five, I placed a hot iron on my face and it burned half! Modern medicine is amazing, cause "Look Ma! No Scars!"
6.I love the arts management side of theatre and currently serve on a variety of boards and committees in LA, including the Artistic Board at The Road Theatre Company, on the ovation rules committee and on the board for HARDCORPS, a dance company that caters to high poverty and at-risk teens in the Skid Row district. I am also an associate producer for Directors Lab West! i am also always behind on emails.
7. And I teach! I'm on the summer faculty at Idyllwild Arts Academy and I have taught masterclasses as colleges and universities all over the country, including NYU, CalArts, Vanguard University, UNLV, ucsd and Brooklyn College.
8. Top 5 bucket countries include: New Zealand, Iceland, Dubai, Egypt and Morocco. If you could hire me to work there, that'd be awesome.
9. I have an MFA in Acting from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) and attended Vanguard University for undergrad.
10. I LOVE: Michael Jackson, coconut oil, drinking wine in bed, scrubbing tile (weird, i know), cocoa butter, roller skates, wine, Dear Prudence + dear sugar, doing the pony, aviator sunglasses, did i mention wine?, spin class, the "f word" and handmade jewelry.
